heres the story.
about a year ago, i was playing at citrus for a singer songwriters showcase concert.Among the crowd and guest there was a very important man who would give me an opportunity to get my foot in the door. After the show had ended i met a Joey Carbone, brief history, awesome producer from the 80s and now is a top producer in Japan. so we met and he says "your bad ass" so we laugh and thought nothing of it.Fast-forward to May of 2008, Alan gets an email from Joey asking him for my contact info. They wanted drum tracks for the new Joseph Williams album(joseph williams is the former singer of TOTO(the song Rossana, africa)Joseph williams has had some of my favorite drummers). we started emailing back and forth figuring out logistics. We finally agreed to track in late june and we would be tracking 3 songs.when i got to the studio to track, my emotions were running as well as nerves, so i took a deep breath and just relaxed. We were hoping for Joey Carbone and Joseph to come here me track but unfortunately Joseph was under the weather and therefore stayed home to rest.We had set aside 6 hours to track 3 songs.I can now look back and tell you that i was on my A game. We ended up tracking 4 SONGS in about 3 hours! I felt very good about my playing and so did everyone in the room.I packed up my drums and went home thinking that was it...BUT NO!!!!
a month later i received another email asking me to track 4 MORE SONGS!!!!!!We set another date in early August and this time Joseph would be there! Once again i was nervous but i thought to myself WHO CARES! The click track starts and i begin playing the first song after the first take i go into the control room and joseph says"WOW,WANNA GO ON TOUR?"
album is in its final stages before being released.Im on 8 songs with some great drummers and amazing musicians playing as well.
